Frequently asked questions

Are the fees per semester or per year?+

All tuition figures are quoted per semester. Each academic year has two semesters, so annual tuition is roughly double the per-semester amount, plus functional fees charged separately.

What is the difference between tuition and functional fees?+

Tuition covers academic instruction delivered by faculty. Functional fees cover services and statutory charges — including registration, examinations, the NCHE levy, guild fees, ID cards, and research support.

Can I pay my fees in instalments?+

Yes. SLAU offers up to three interest-free instalments per semester. Clear the first payment at registration and agree a schedule with the Bursar's Office for the balance before examinations begin.

How are international students charged?+

International (non-East African) students are billed the USD equivalent of the listed tuition. Contact the Admissions Office for the current exchange rate and any applicable international levy.

How do I apply for a scholarship or bursary?+

Submit a written application with supporting documents to the Office of the Dean of Students after receiving your admission offer. Awards are competitive and confirmed before the semester begins.

Are these the final, official fee figures?+

The amounts shown are indicative figures for 2025/2026. The binding fee structure is the one issued by the Finance Office each academic year — always confirm with the Bursar before making any payment.
