St. Lawrence University Uganda’s football team made history by qualifying for the University Football League (UFL) Grand Finale, generating massive excitement across the SLAU community.
St. Lawrence University Uganda (SLAU) delivered one of its most exciting sporting moments in April 2025, when the University’s football team qualified for the Grand Finale of the University Football League (UFL). The achievement was celebrated across the entire SLAU community.
The team’s journey to the finals was marked by outstanding performances, team spirit, and determination. Playing under the banner of #LightYourCandle, the squad demonstrated that excellence at SLAU extends well beyond the classroom.
The Grand Finale was held at Muteesa II Memorial Stadium, drawing a massive crowd of students, staff, alumni, and supporters. The atmosphere was electric, with SLAU fans turning out in large numbers to cheer their team.
SLAU’s Vice Chancellor congratulated the team and the entire coaching staff, noting that sports development is a key part of the University’s vision to produce well-rounded graduates. The University continues to invest in sports facilities and student athlete development as part of its strategic plan.
Former team captain Ibrahim Kasule also represented Uganda on the national team, the Uganda Cranes, reflecting the calibre of talent nurtured at SLAU.
