By Mugabi Joshua ยท Communications Office, SLAU
St. Lawrence University (SLAU) has conducted a Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) training for its academic staff and students, as part of the University’s commitment to delivering quality, skills-focused education aligned with national and international standards.
The training brought together lecturers, instructors and students from across the University’s four faculties to deepen their understanding of the CBC framework โ an approach that emphasises practical skills, real-world competencies and learner-centred education.
Training Focus
Building practical skills, competency-based assessment and learner-centred teaching methods across all SLAU programmes.
Resource persons guided participants through key modules including introduction to research concepts and procedures, identifying research topics and problems, and the principles of competence-based assessment and curriculum design.
The training is part of SLAU’s broader strategy to align its academic programmes with the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) framework, ensuring graduates are equipped with the skills demanded by the modern job market.
