New Semester Kicks Off in Style at St. Lawrence University Uganda

A new semester begins at SLAU with energy, excitement, and purpose — as thousands of students return to campus ready to learn, grow, and make their mark on the world.
St. Lawrence University Uganda (SLAU) kicked off its new academic semester with a warm welcome to all returning and new students. The campus buzzed with energy as students reconnected with peers, collected academic timetables, and settled into their programmes.
The semester opening was marked by an orientation session for new students, where they were introduced to the University’s academic policies, support services, library resources, e-learning platform (SLAU Learn), and student leadership structures.
Faculty deans addressed their respective students, outlining semester objectives and encouraging a spirit of academic excellence and entrepreneurial thinking — consistent with the University’s annual theme of ‘Entrepreneurial Education, a Pathway to Sustainable Livelihood.’
The University’s Student Guild was also active in welcoming new students, organising icebreaker events and campus tours to help newcomers feel at home in the vibrant SLAU community. Social and sports clubs held recruitment drives throughout the first week.
SLAU’s multicultural environment, with students from over 20 countries, means every semester start is a rich cultural exchange. The University remains committed to providing every student with the tools, environment, and inspiration they need to light their candle and build a successful future.
