SLAU’s own former football captain Ibrahim Kasule earns a call-up to the Uganda Cranes national football team — a proud moment for the University and a testament to the sporting talent nurtured on campus.

St. Lawrence University Uganda (SLAU) is proud to celebrate one of its own: former University football team captain Ibrahim Kasule has been named in the Uganda Cranes national football squad, representing Uganda at the international level.

Kasule, who rose through the ranks of SLAU’s football programme, has been recognised for his exceptional skill, leadership, and consistent performances. His call-up to the Uganda Cranes is a proud moment not only for him personally, but for the entire SLAU community.

The University’s football programme has long been a fertile ground for nurturing talent. With access to regular inter-university competitions through the University Football League (UFL), SLAU’s players gain competitive experience that prepares them for higher levels of the sport.

SLAU’s Vice Chancellor extended congratulations to Kasule, noting that the University’s mission of producing well-rounded graduates — those who excel both academically and in co-curricular pursuits — was embodied perfectly in this achievement.

The University community rallied behind Kasule on social media under the hashtag #LightYourCandle, wishing him success with the national team. His journey serves as an inspiration for every student at SLAU to pursue their passion and reach for the highest level.
