SLAU Supports Uganda's National Digital Census as a Hub of Technology Education

As Uganda conducts its landmark digital census, SLAU’s Faculty of Science and Technology positions the University as a key stakeholder in Uganda’s national data revolution and digital transformation.
Uganda embarked on a landmark digital census with the reference night set for 9th May 2024 and enumeration running from 10th–19th May 2024. St. Lawrence University Uganda (SLAU) embraced this national milestone as an opportunity to highlight its role in shaping Uganda’s digital future.
The Faculty of Science and Technology at SLAU — home to programmes in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Telecommunications Engineering — has been at the forefront of building Uganda’s next generation of digital professionals.
SLAU students and faculty engaged with the digital census as a practical case study in data collection, management, and analysis — core competencies taught across IT and public administration programmes at the University.
The Vice Chancellor reaffirmed SLAU’s commitment to supporting Uganda’s digital transformation agenda, noting that the University’s ICT programmes are specifically designed to produce graduates who can design, implement, and manage the digital systems that underpin national development.
As Uganda rapidly expands its digital infrastructure, SLAU graduates are increasingly finding roles in government digital agencies, private tech firms, and international organisations — proof that a SLAU education translates directly into meaningful national impact.
