Vice President, H.E Jessica Alupo, Thursday presided over the 14th graduation ceremony of St Lawrence University at the main Campus in Rubaga, Kampala. The ceremony, held under the themeRelevant Education Through Competency-Based Studies, saw a total of 376 students awarded diplomas and degrees in various disciplines.

As Chancellor of St. Lawrence University, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the graduands on this momentous occasion. Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have brought you to this significant milestone in your lives.

In her address during the graduation ceremony which was held on Thursday at St. Lawrence University main campus graunds, Lubaga Division in Kampala, the Vice President, Alupo told them to celebrate the accomplishments of their graduation by taking a moment to acknowledge the hard work, dedication and resilience that each and every one has demonstrated throughout your academic journey.


“As you embark on the next chapter of your lives, it is important to remember the valuable lessons and experiences you have gained during your time at our University”, VP Alupo said.

She informed them that the experiences have not only shaped their academic knowledge but have also cultivated essential skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and effective communication.

“It is these skills that will undoubtedly serve as a solid foundation for your future successes” she added.

Alupo pointed out that graduation is a step into the world beyond the walls of the University. “It is crucial to recognize that learning is a lifelong process” and told them that the world is constantly evolving, and so, they must always update their knowledge and skills.

She further encouraged them to embrace opporunities to learn and grow throughout their careers and never be afraid to challenge but push beyond their comfort zone.

She noted that, today, it is important to acknowledge the support of the system that has helped them to reach a point in their lives, especially through their families, friends and mentors who have played a significant role in their journey by offering; guidance, encouragement and love.

And told them to take a moment of express gratitude for their unwavering support and know that they are forever indebted to them.
